Assembly Modeling with SolidWorks 2006 ReviewGreat intermediate SolidWorks book focused on Assembly Modeling using advance techniques. I purchased their, "Planchard & Planchard" Engineering Design SW book last year and was very happy with the layout, illustrations, models, and easy to following step by step procedures.
This book, Assembly Modeling does an awesome job in describing and addressing issues from simple to complex Mates, and SmartMates, standard to custom Fasteners and Smart Fasteners along with providing great industry models using both top-down and bottom up assembly methods.
Mate References, Load References, In-Content Relations, External References and InPlane Mates are all presented in a simple but concise manner with illustrations, easy to follow procedures, and just the right amount of reading information. To obtain additional detail reading information, the book references the SW online help tutorials. I like this very much. Numerous configurations and equations are created from the supplied and created models in the CD incorporated in the book.

Assembly Modeling with SolidWorks 2008 ReviewAn excellent text with lots of illustrations for any SolidWorks user who wants to learn about top-down and bottom-up assembly modeling. It is very easy to read, follow and best of all to comprehend.
The book is clear and succinct and deals with 95% of the key topics in assembly modeling namely; templates, custom properties, document and system option, SolidWorks Explorer, toolbox, blocks, layout sketches, two levels of configurations, (design tables, configure configuration and configure dimensions), assembly drawings (great section), SmartMates, mate errors, MateXpert and I can go on... In other words, it has a lot of great SolidWorks stuff on assemblies. Initial and final SW models in the book are included on the CD.
