SAP BW Certification: A Business Information Warehouse Study Guide ReviewThis review was written by a consultant, who can look back on 8 years of SAP-experience and almost 2 years of experience with SAP-BW.
This book targets consultants, who want to cross-check their knowledge, before they take their multiple choice test for the SAP-BW-Certificate. It does contain the orginal Multiple-Choice-Tests for SAP-BW 2.1., and it does contain information on SAP-BBW. It is useful, but you should consider the following shortcomings:
(1) This book is on SAP-BW 2.1, but the most up-to-date release is 3.1. There were many changes since then
(2)If you are just a BW-User, who wants to know, which button to push and which report to start, you should consider other books. This book has got few screenshots and it is definitely not for novices. You can use it, to test knowledge, but it is not comprehensive enough, to teach new knowledge.
(3) If you are a systems administrator or a practitioner, who wants in depths technical information, but who does NOT want a certificate, you should consider other books.
Examples: Kevin McDonalds book on BW or a german publication by Christian Mehrwald (SAP BW Relase 3.0)published by dpunkt-Verlag (Mehrwalds book was written in german and to the best of my knowledge it has not been translated yet, though it is the best book on that topic I know) .
With all due respect towards Mrs Roze, her book is rather thin (260 Pages), does use a large letter type, has got many blank spaces and devotes 20-30% on very general topics (OLTP versus OLAP, Exam preparation etc). The structure of the book is rather erratic. I got along with it, as I have got experience, but a novice might be forced to flip pages forwards and backwards a lot. Moreover, this book does not contain that type of hands-on-advice on administration, that can be found in more advanced books on BW. The scientific content of the chapters varies a lot.
Some are too simple, others discuss very esoteric topics, which you hardly need, except in your exam. Even if you are lucky and pass the test, because you memorize all questions, this is not enough to use BW in you daily work.
(4) I agree with the previous reviewer, that there are mistakes in the multiplechoice-tests, that some answers are definitely wrong, and that some tests ask for information, that one can not find in the corresponding chapter.
SUMMARY: This book is still useful, but only for experienced consultants, who want to get their SAP-BW-Certificate,and moreover it has got some serious flaws.SAP BW Certification: A Business Information Warehouse Study Guide Overview
Provides an overview to the exam's topics, including a "Need to Know" list that identifies areas that must be understood in-depth.
Includes exercises that can be performed, usually with a small test BW server.
Contains practice test questions that assess the readers knowledge of the current exam topics.
Serves as a complement to the classroom training provided by SAP.

Microsoft® FrontPage® Version 2002 Inside Out (Inside Out (Microsoft)) Review......If you use FrontPage 2002 and want to get the most out of it, this is your book. Buyens covers nearly every important aspect of Web development from site planning to development and deployment. He teaches you how to use FrontPage to do this and fills in the gaps (that any WYSIWYG development tool will leave). The topics include: every aspect of FrontPage 2002 (given), building and managing whole Web sites, design conventions (fonts, colors, graphics, etc.), Cascading Style Sheets, HTML, forms, Web server info, Active Server Pages, database usage, and a host of others. He gives lots of code snippets that you need as well as tips and tricks; intermediates and beginners will benefit greatly from this. More advanced topics like ASP and ADO are given a good introduction if you want it. The CD adds several bonus chapters of advanced content and tools.
......At first scan, I was a little overwhelmed with the whole book. When I finally sat down to go through the whole book (and actually read it) each chapter made great sense. I was able to skim a few sections that I knew well, but still got some helpful "inside" information from them. This book is very comprehensive and is not overly technical.
......I recommend it both for the IT pro who wants complete control over his/her Web site design and management and for enthusiastic beginners (and everyone in between). If you just want to create simple Web pages like Word docs, I suggest something like _Front Page, Step by Step_ instead. If you want to use FrontPage to create dynamic, quality, and easy to maintain Web sites, this is your COMPLETE reference.Microsoft® FrontPage® Version 2002 Inside Out (Inside Out (Microsoft)) Overview

Beyond E-Learning: Approaches and Technologies to Enhance Organizational Knowledge, Learning, and Performance ReviewOnce again, Marc Rosenberg shows us the way to really transform our organizations into efficient, effective knowledge-centered enterprises. He warns that e-Learning, like training in general, is often done the wrong way, for the wrong reasons. He busts myths right and left (the section on "the myths of e-Learning" alone is worth the purchase price!), and steadfastly refuses to be swept along by fads, technologies -- or even traditions of training.
What Rosenberg does is to lay out a vision of the Smart Enterprise, in which the focus is on performers rather than learners. He argues persuasively that technologies such as e-Learning, classroom learning, knowledge management, communications and collaboration technologies are best viewed not as individual technologies (or fads), but rather as complementary parts of a balanced strategy for performance improvement in enterprises which effectively translate data to knowledge to information to performance. Detailed chapters then discuss each of the key components of this strategy for performance improvement, including practical advice on how to implement them and where the pitfalls are. Examples and issue sidebars featuring luminaries in the field and corporate success stories add weight to the argument.
This is not just another "business book of the month" full of quick-fix half-truths. It is a mature, broad and comprehensive view of what it really takes to make any knowledge-intensive organization get what it needs to reach its goals. Senior line organization managers will find it essential; training managers will find it liberating and exhilerating -- or threatening. It's required reading for everyone responsible for making their enterprises smart.Beyond E-Learning: Approaches and Technologies to Enhance Organizational Knowledge, Learning, and Performance OverviewA follow-up to his best-selling E-Learning, Beyond E-Learning explains the most current thinking on how organizations learn and apply what they know to be successful, and explores the increasingly important role that technology plays, not as an end in itself but as a vital means to get there. The book also provides a clear path for helping to integrate learning—including e-learning—knowledge management, and performance support, and will help training professionals and the organizations they serve go beyond common myths and misconceptions about training and e-learning, focus training/learning activities directly on organizational know-how, and implement a framework that can (at last) be a catalyst for true organizational learning.

The Accidental Project Manager: Surviving the Transition from Techie to Manager ReviewYears ago Jerry Weinberg told me that virtually all managers feel like imposters when they first begin managing. I certainly remember feeling that way in my first managerial assignment. Of course you can never reveal the feeling to those around you, that wouldn't be playing the game. While we're at it, you often can't ask your peer managers for much advice and guidance either. It's dumb, but for all the talk about "management teams," peer managers are more likely to be your competitors than your coaches. So where do you turn for sensible advice? I suggest Patricia Ensworth's thoughtful book for the first time manager. I suggest it for second and third time managers as well. She lays out the problems and has at least something sensible to propose for each one. I wish I'd had this book in hand the day I was promoted into management. It might have made the next five years a lot easier. Tom DeMarcoThe Accidental Project Manager: Surviving the Transition from Techie to Manager Overview
