Professional LINQ (Programmer to Programmer) ReviewAlthough it is a bit dry and dictionaryesque at times, kudos to Scott Klein on writing a solid book on LINQ and providing a lot of detail as to the specifics.
However, the editing of the book is absolutely terrible, particularly for one in the Wrox P2P series. There are numerous typos throughout the book, as well as areas where the content is simply wrong. For example, in one area (page 77), he describes a LINQ query as grouping by the last name, then displaying the first and middle names concatenated together, when in reality the code is grouping by the FIRST name and concatenating the middle and last together.
This might sound like I am nit-picking. However, when covering a topic like this where there are new and non-intuitive items (such as method syntax and lambda expressions) being discussed, it is critically important that the description of the example actually matches the example. Considering that the book rarely lists the syntax format itself, mismatches can lead to "learning" incorrect information.
Were the editing better, I would give this a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
Oh, on another note.. Be aware that this book was based on Beta releases.. Things have changed a little bit.Professional LINQ (Programmer to Programmer) OverviewProfessional LINQ introduces experienced programmers and database developers to LINQ database queries in their native VB and C# languages. Some of the topics covered include:
LINQ Queries
LINQ and the Standard Query Operators
Programming with XLinq
Querying XML with XLinq
Mixing XML and other data models
DLinq and Queries
LINQ over datasets
Interoperating with ADO.NET
LINQ and ASP.NET

Windows Administration Resource Kit: Productivity Solutions for IT Professionals ReviewI have never written a review for a book before, guess I'm just too busy or lazy (not sure which), but I just had to write something about this book. I would give it a 6th star if I could. Yes the book and topics covered are just that good! I first heard about this book through an article in Windows IT Pro magazine, another must have for system administrators. Once I read that article, I knew this book was a must have.
I am almost finished with this book and I have to say that "It has changed the way I look at and deal with Windows and Active Directory management!" The book is a great blend of technical knowledge and solutions to "Real World" issues that system and network administrators face every day. This book is helping me to reshape our entire infrastructure into a more manageable and productive environment. I thank you, my co-workers thank you, and my users thank you! If you buy this book and read through the concepts, implement the ideas that work best for you, your job is going to be so much easier and your users are going to be so much happier.
The book is massive and could be overwhelming at first look, but once you start reading into the content and concepts you start to see windows and active directory management in a new light. Each chapter builds on the previous, and Dan does a great job of making complex subjects easier to tackle (For example: How do I best organize my Active Directory in a logical easy manner?). Going through the book you get the distinct impression that Dan Holme has been in your shoes dealing with typical Active Directory issues for years and is pouring out all his real world experience onto the pages, it's almost like he is right there with you. You could spend 100 times the amount of the book on a consultant and still not get the same value and knowledge this book is going to give you!
Buy this book, in fact buy 2 and give one to a friend.Windows Administration Resource Kit: Productivity Solutions for IT Professionals OverviewGet the comprehensive, essential resource for improving Windows administrator productivity. Microsoft Voice and Unified Communications ReviewMicrosoft Voice and Unified Communications
Very readable and informative. Joe Schurman has a keen sense for the future of multimedia communications and the fact that to be successful a seamless integration to a user's desktop applications is necessary. He is also very knowledgeable on the Microft and IBM total platforms. Since most businesses are using the Microsoft Office environment it is only logical that Microsoft will be a leader in Unified Communications as integrated multimedia becomes more prevalent in the business community. A good understanding of the Microsoft Office Communications environment and competitors' platforms is presented. Personally a little disappointed that the Microsoft / NorTel alliance partnership didn't get sufficient traction I think the book falls a little short in presenting the fact that for large enterprises with specialized telephony applications Microsoft has a way to go. Contact Center, Web Portals to Customer Service, sophisticated Interactive Voice Response, and integrations to companies' CRM systems still requires the expertise of the large players such as NorTel and Avaya as well as specialized application developers.Microsoft Voice and Unified Communications Overview"Microsoft Voice and Unified Communications is essential reading for anyone using–or considering–Microsoft's range of VoIP options, from consumers to small business owners to enterprise customers."--Xuedong Huang, General Manager, Microsoft Research Communications, Innovation Center"Joe Schurman has captured the essence of Microsoft's vision and implementation in the areas of Voice and Unified Communications. This is an important book for those interested in connecting the dots between the present and the future in human communications and understanding why things are evolving in that way."--Gurdeep Singh Pall, Microsoft Corporate Vice President, Unified Communications GroupMicrosoft® Voice and Unified Communications is a book that provides insight into Microsoft's Voice and Unified Communications portfolio of products and services related to Microsoft Windows Live, Microsoft Response Point, and the Microsoft Unified Communications platform. Here's What You'll Find Inside. . .· Microsoft's vision of voice products and services for consumer, small/medium businesses, and enterprise organizations including a foreword by Gurdeep Singh Pall, Microsoft Corporate Vice President, Unified Communications Group, and commentary by Xuedong Huang, General Manager of the Microsoft Research Communications Innovation Center.· Technical guidance and information related to Microsoft Windows Live, Microsoft Response Point, and the Microsoft Unified Communications platform, including the newly released Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2.· Sales guidance for selling Microsoft voice solutions in the SMB and Enterprise markets.· Examples of customized Microsoft voice and unified communications applications.· Overview of Microsoft voice and unified communications security.· Latest Microsoft voice and unified communications research and development.· Understanding of voice, unified communications, and telephony concepts and terms as well as the history and evolution of communications technology.

Microsoft® FrontPage® Version 2002 Inside Out (Inside Out (Microsoft)) Review......If you use FrontPage 2002 and want to get the most out of it, this is your book. Buyens covers nearly every important aspect of Web development from site planning to development and deployment. He teaches you how to use FrontPage to do this and fills in the gaps (that any WYSIWYG development tool will leave). The topics include: every aspect of FrontPage 2002 (given), building and managing whole Web sites, design conventions (fonts, colors, graphics, etc.), Cascading Style Sheets, HTML, forms, Web server info, Active Server Pages, database usage, and a host of others. He gives lots of code snippets that you need as well as tips and tricks; intermediates and beginners will benefit greatly from this. More advanced topics like ASP and ADO are given a good introduction if you want it. The CD adds several bonus chapters of advanced content and tools.
......At first scan, I was a little overwhelmed with the whole book. When I finally sat down to go through the whole book (and actually read it) each chapter made great sense. I was able to skim a few sections that I knew well, but still got some helpful "inside" information from them. This book is very comprehensive and is not overly technical.
......I recommend it both for the IT pro who wants complete control over his/her Web site design and management and for enthusiastic beginners (and everyone in between). If you just want to create simple Web pages like Word docs, I suggest something like _Front Page, Step by Step_ instead. If you want to use FrontPage to create dynamic, quality, and easy to maintain Web sites, this is your COMPLETE reference.Microsoft® FrontPage® Version 2002 Inside Out (Inside Out (Microsoft)) Overview

The Rational Guide to Building SharePoint Web Parts (Rational Guides) ReviewOverall it provides a very good quick start to writing web parts. My one gripe is that they include "Bonus Material" that can be downloaded when you register your book with them (ie: give them all your personal information) such as chapters on "Using the WPPackager Application" and "Using External Resources". Just what I want, to print out material to stick in my book. It makes sense to have the examples and sample web parts available for download but chapters of the book should be published with the book!!!
I had hoped this would be more like an O'Rielly Nutshell book which are generally short on blah blah and long on reference material. Unfortunately it gets verbose in many places and only provides reference to the most commonly used objects, methods, and properties.
All the same it pulls together enough information to get you started quickly in a small enough book that you can actually use it.The Rational Guide to Building SharePoint Web Parts (Rational Guides) OverviewLearn the complex issues in creating Web Parts for SharePoint Portal Server 2003 and Windows SharePoint Services (built into Windows Server 2003). Save countless hours by learning the correct way to develop Web Parts. This book does not cover SharePoint administration...it just dives right into Web Part development and related issues. This book takes a rational, no-nonsense approach in a compact guide - only 176pages. The book is written for a beginner to intermediate-level developer, so you get the basics...fast! It covers the basics of virtually all areas of managing SharePoint Web Parts, including creation, testing, and deployment. Technical accuracy is assured by Zac Woodall, Program Manager, Office DBI, Microsoft Corporation. This book comes with free bonus materials: 1. Extra Chapter - Using the WPPackager 2. Extra Chapter - Using External Resources 3. Code examples in C# and VB .NET 4. Sample Web Parts and Policy File

MCSA/MCSE Self-Paced Training Kit (Exams 70-292 and 70-296): Upgrading Your Certification to Microsoft Windows Server 2003: Upgrading Your ... Windows Server(tm) 2003 (Pro-Certification) ReviewBig heavy book with some big heavy content. A lot of info in this book. I got through about half of it before I took the exams. I passed the exams, but felt like I didn't really need to spend the time reading the book in order to do so. It comes with the Measure-Up practice tests which are pretty good. None of the questions from the practice tests were on the production exam, but taking them puts you in the test taking mode. Plus the practice tests give you an idea on what they are testing on with these new exams. A previous review mentioned DNS. DNS is big time on the 296 exam, but Microsoft assumes you already know about DNS and they really only ask questions about the new features in 2003 DNS. Conditional forwarding is a big new DNS concept as well as stub-zones. Know what they are. 292 is 55 questions and 296 is 51 questions. The 296 test is set-up a little different. You are asked 24 questions in one section then you can review then you are given another 26 questions. Once you get through the first 24 and you start the second half you cannot go back to review the first 24. Weird I know. Not sure about the method of their madness there, but they are trying to do something different. 292 is all about administering 2003. You really need to know 2000 as well. A lot of scenario questions on 296 regarding design. Windows 2003 introduces a bunch of new modes you can be in. Remember in 2000 you had mixed mode or native mode. In 2003 there are forest-level modes and domain-level modes. It is a little confusing. You need to know each mode or level and understand what features you can use with each. A few drag and drop questions on that. Remember some questions are worth more points than others so getting the big drag and drop or matching questions correct will get you more points. Universal group membership caching is important. Users no longer need a global catalog to log in provided you are in the right 2003 mode. A few questions on trusts as well. Overall this is a good book, but to me it is not 100% necessary to read it in order to pass. You might be better off with a smaller exam cram book and check out the 2003 white papers on Microsoft's website. These are both very passable exams for the MCSA/MCSE. 296 is a little harder, but if you know your stuff it shouldn't be much of a problem. Good luck.MCSA/MCSE Self-Paced Training Kit (Exams 70-292 and 70-296): Upgrading Your Certification to Microsoft Windows Server 2003: Upgrading Your ... Expert F# (Expert's Voice in .NET) ReviewThe Good
- Practical.
- High example density.
- Broad coverage of a lot of practical F# topics.
- Good depth on all the important practical stuff.
- I felt like I learned a lot, not only about F#, but about some cool C# features too.
- I felt like I'd be a lot more productive as a programmer if I could master the language.
The (not so) Bad
- Structurally, I initially got lost with some of the more complex examples. And it was straining to page back and forth re-reading things until I grasped the concepts. The density of information in the text sometimes makes it less valuable as a teaching aid and more valuable as a reference.
The (not so) Ugly
- I could not get one of the async examples to actually compile. I had to search the web for some hints to add declarations that seem to have been omitted from either the example code or F# implementation itself. In short, the example code, my development environment, F# itself, of some combination thereof was missing what appears to be an extension method for WebRequest.GetResponseAsync. I had to code it myself. But once I did, it worked! (This might not be a criticism of the book.)Expert F# (Expert's Voice in .NET) Overview
Expert F# is about practical programming in a beautiful language that puts the power and elegance of functional programming into the hands of .NET developers. In combination with .NET, F# achieves unrivaled levels of programmer productivity and program clarity. This books serves as

The authoritative guide to F# by the designer of F#
A comprehensive reference of F# concepts, syntax, and features
A treasury of expert F# techniques for practical, real–world programming

While inspired by OCaml, F# isn't just another functional programming language. Drawing on many of the strengths of both OCaml and .NET, it's a general–purpose language ideal for real–world development. F# integrates functional, imperative, and object–oriented programming styles so you can flexibly and elegantly solve programming problems, and brings .NET development alive with interactive execution. Whatever your background, you'll find that F# is easy to learn, fun to use, and extraordinarily powerful. F# will help change the way you think about and go about programming.

Written by F#'s designer and two active contributors, Expert F# is the authoritative, comprehensive, and in–depth guide to the language and its use. Designed to help others become experts, the book gives a thorough introduction to the F# language from quick essentials to in–depth advanced topics such as active pattern matching, aggregate data types and operators, sequence expressions, lazy values, mutable data and side–effects, generics, type augmentations, functional decomposition and code organization.

The second half of the book is devoted to examining the practical application of F#, providing elegant solutions to common programming tasks includinguser interfaceimplementation, data access, web and distributed programming, symbolic and numerical computations, concurrent programming, testing, profiling, and interoperability with other languages. The latest hot developments in F# and .NET are also addressed, including Active Patterns, implicit class construction, integration with LINQ over relational data, meta programming and useful tips for working with Visual Studio and F# command–line tools.

The worlds foremost experts in F# show you how to program in F# the way they do!

What you'll learn
How to use F# for functional, imperative, and object–oriented programming
How to code elegant F# solutions with expert technique and style
How to develop Windows, web, graphics, and database applications in F#
How to do numerical, concurrent, lexical, and symbolic processing in F#
How to interoperate with C and COM

Who this book is for
This book is for anyone interested in state–of–the art .NET programming. Professional programmers will find it engrossing. F# provides invaluable insight into the future of both C# and VB, which are now adopting some (but far from all) of the functional features of F#. Once they learn F#, few feel like returning to either C# or VB. The academic community will find F# the answer to a decades–long prayer: a language suitable for teaching computer science that also excites and empowers students because it can be used not just in the classroom, but also in the real world.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2007: A Beginner's Guide ReviewI initially picked this book up based on a recommendation from a friend. I had extensive experience with Exchange Server from 5.5 through 2003, but since Exchange 2007 was a whole new revision, I wanted to start as a "beginner." I found however, that this book worked very well not only for beginners, but for someone with a lot of previous Exchange Server experience as well. Learning based on this book was quite easy and it is a quick read. The author obviously has built a career around Exchange Server based on the anecdotes throughout. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is serious about moving to Exchange Server 2007.Microsoft Exchange Server 2007: A Beginner's Guide Overview

VBScript, WMI, and ADSI Unleashed: Using VBScript, WMI, and ADSI to Automate Windows Administration ReviewI found this book to be very helpful and practical with the examples given in the book. The examples have come in useful for me for basic systems administration in my Windows Server 2003 network with Active Directory. The author breaks down the example codes line by line and explains what is going on, which I found to be very helpful.
one thing I did not like was that some times the author purposely put mistakes in the code without initially telling you. Then towards the end of the section, he will ask you why the code did not work and will tell you what went wrong and why. He doesn't do this all the time, but a few times. It made me second guess myself and thought that the publisher had bad typos in the code, something familiarly seen in a lot of programming books. Good learning experience, I suppose.
Even if you are a beginner programmer wanting to learn VBscripting, I think you would be able to get the gist of VBscript by copying the examples in the book and tweaking them for your needs. This is my first VBscript book and it's definitely a keeper for me. Highly recommended!VBScript, WMI, and ADSI Unleashed: Using VBScript, WMI, and ADSI to Automate Windows Administration OverviewIf you're a Windows administrator, scripting expertise can liberate you from boring, repetitive work–so you can take on the sophisticated, high-value projects you really want. Top scripting guru Don Jones has written the definitive administrator's guide to getting results with Microsoft's key scripting technologies: VBScript, WMI, and ADSI. Jones draws on his unsurpassed experience training Windows administrators in conferences, classes, and from his enormously popular site, ScriptingAnswers.com. You'll learn how to use VBScript, WMI, and ADSI to gain administrative control over nearly every aspect of every recent Windows server or client, including Windows Server 2003, Vista, XP, 2000, and NT. As you gain experience, Jones introduces more advanced techniques, ranging from modular scripting and script encryption to integrating VBScript with HTML code. Jones concludes with a full section of ready-to-run, real-world examples–from logon/logoff scripts to automated domain and network administration, from querying WMI to creating Active Directory groups. Portable DBA: SQL Server ReviewIf there is one book that you are considering for SQL Server Administration, this is the one to buy. Covering all the major topics of administration, this book goes above and beyond other SQL Server books for several reasons. Not only does it live up to the promise of an easy to find guide for everyday tasks, it offers the ability to read up quickly on several advanced topics and gain knowledge rapidly. Taken into consideration, are the three latest versions; SQL Server 2000, 7.0 and 6.5, detailing out differences between versions where applicable. Everything is explained clearly. The authors have done an excellent job of providing a wealth of information in short and concise content. It is very refreshing to see a book that was obviously written to be as brief possible without skimping on important details...clearly no fluff here!!!! This has two benefits to the reader, 1; information is easy to find, no time is wasted reading through frivolous content, 2; the cost is lower than those 1,000 page volumes that contain less valuable information. Hopefully this is the start of a new trend in technical books.
In just a few minutes after flipping through, and reading up on backups, I realized that I'm not backing up my production data properly, and can substantially decrease data loss risk by backing up my transaction logs regularly with the data. Also, some security concepts I had a bit of difficulty fully comprehending became clear to me as well.
Reading through this book, it is obvious the authors have extensive experience with SQL Server, as this book has many insider tips that only experts would know through practice. It is also apparent that the authors worked well together as this book reads as though one person wrote it. Definitely a must buy and well worth the cost. I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars.Portable DBA: SQL Server OverviewThis book is the ultimate field guide for every SQL ServerDBA's laptop bag. Don't go onsite without it! Covers the most commonly used SQL Server database versions. Handy, easy-to-find information includes security, database creation and management, restoration and recovery, automating SQL Server administration, monitoring performance, tuning, and much more.

Essential SharePoint 2007 ReviewBeing a SharePoint architect, I always get asked by clients and end users for resources/books to learn SharePoint functionality. The users don't want to know the gritty programming details, but want to know the functionality at a high level so that they can use the portal to its potential. I have always had a tough time recommending to clients a good book....but now with this book, I feel comfortable as well as confident that clients would feel at home reading this book.
The book talks about what collaboration is and how to implement a successful portal. From an end-user perspective it goes through all the out of the box functionality which is available and which can be implemented without writing a single line of code. The search functionality of MOSS has been very well explained. End users can very easily implement out-of-the-box workflows. The publishing features are very clearly explained.
Overall, I am very pleased with the book. Bear in mind the audience for this book is not a developer. Its mainly for the business/end-user community.

Excel 2002 Bible ReviewHaving used Excel for a number of years and various other Excel guides, I have been disappointed each time I have tried to use this book.
The worst feature? The index. Any reference book should be able to point you to where you want to go, but with only one description of most functions -- and you have to guess at which word the author will choose to pick for the index -- you're often spending more time trying to figure out the "bible" than you would if you were just fiddling with Excel on your own.
So if you're looking for a guidebook for Excel, my opinion is to find a different book, perhaps one of the Que "Special Edition" series instead.Excel 2002 Bible OverviewMicrosoft Excel 2002 Bible delivers comprehensive, authoritative coverage of what you need to know about Excel. Learn to go beyond entering data and applying simple formulas. Microsoft Excel 2002 Bible empowers you to tap the enormous potential of Excel. This volume shows how to use Excel effectively on the Internet or intranet. It's an excellent all-in-one reference for anyone who uses Excel, from novices to experts.

Essential PowerShell ReviewEssential PowerShell is a great way to learn PowerShell from the ground up and also as an examples-oriented reference. Coverage of the language essentials is concise, accurate, and demonstrated with examples. There are no long sections on generic programming concepts (i.e. what a variable is, what a loop is). So if you are already a programmer, this is a great book to learn PowerShell. Beyond the language essentials, the author does a great job covering third party modules and tools. There is also a surprising breadth to this book for only being ~500 pages; take a look at the table of contents. Essential PowerShell is almost a cookbook; you don't have to read it from end-to-end and many sections stand on their own.
The book could have used more coverage of using native commands (i.e. parsing the output, checking error conditions).
Be aware this book does not cover PowerShell 2.0, but it was published before 2.0 was released.Essential PowerShell OverviewUse PowerShell to Streamline and Automate Your Most Time-Consuming Windows Administration TasksWith Windows PowerShell, Microsoft brings innovative console-based system administration and scripting to Windows clients and servers. PowerShell combines the best features of traditional UNIX shells with the immense power of the .NET Framework, offering a consistent and easy-to-use replacement for both the Windows command line and the Windows Script Host. In Essential PowerShell, noted expert Holger Schwichtenberg gives Windows sysadmins all the knowledge and sample scripts they need to successfully administer production systems with PowerShell. Schwichtenberg begins by introducing the innovative PowerShell architecture, along with crucial PowerShell concepts such as pipelining and navigation. Next, he introduces the PowerShell Script Language, shows the secure execution of command sequences as scripts, and demonstrates how to use PowerShell to access essential operating system interfaces such as COM, WMI, ADSI, and ADO.NET. After you've mastered the fundamentals, Schwichtenberg presents an extensive collection of PowerShell solutions for virtually every area of day-to-day administration. For each topic, he presents dozens of self-contained examples, all downloadable from a companion Web site. He covers both Microsoft's standard PowerShell commandlets and the free commandlets available as PowerShell Community Extensions. He also presents a full chapter of tips, tricks, and troubleshooting solutions. Programming Microsoft® Visual Basic® 2005: The Language (Pro Developer) ReviewThere haven't been many good books that take Visual Basic .NET seriously as a full-featured Object Oriented Programming language for the .NET platform. Every other book on VB .NET is nothing but screenshot after screenshot of "drag-and-drop" development using Visual Studio.
Programming with the .NET framework encompasses a huge spectrum of things to learn. VB .NET the language, Visual Studio IDE, ASP .NET , ADO .NET, Windows Forms, Windows Services, Serviced Components and Interop are some of those things. After trying many VB books out there, I can confidently say that covering the entire breadth of topics makes a book shallow.
This book picks a select few of the above-mentioned topics and drills very deep into them. It focuses on the language constructs and shows us better programming techniques. Going through a few chapters, I've already learned many ways to write better code.
I'm glad this book doesn't spend a few hundred pages on ADO.NET and ASP.NET (there are some very good books that cover those topics... see below). Doing so would have taken space away from the valuable (and rare) content on the language itself.
This book won't show you how to create a drag-and-drop Windows/Web app. What it will do is make you a much better programmer.
Here's a list of some of the best books for VB Developers currently for sale:
- For Database Programming: Pro ADO.NET 2.0 (Sahil Malik; Apress)
- For ASP.NET Web Development: Programming Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 Core Reference (Dino Esposito; MS Press)
- Best-practices for .NET: Practical Guidelines and Best Practices for Microsoft Visual Basic and Microsoft Visual C# Developers (Francesco Balena, Giuseppe Dimauro; MS Press)
- Good overall crash-course to get things started: Programming Visual Basic 2005 (Jesse Liberty; O'Reilly)
And of course, to master the most fundamental thing of all, the language itself, I recommend this book.Programming Microsoft® Visual Basic® 2005: The Language (Pro Developer) Overview

Pro Windows PowerShell ReviewI've been using the command prompt (DOS for your old schoolers) since the days of MS-DOS 2.11. I thought I had done about everything a person could possibly do with the limited scripting abilities of the command prompt -- and then I happened across this book and it was like going back to school.
Windows Powershell is essentially object-oriented programming mashing up with the command line, with some extras thrown in. In this book the author shows you all the new tricks of the trade and will have you looking at ways to automate your Windows tasks in ways you never thought possible.
There are many things that we want to do on our Windows servers or XP/Vista boxes that you have to "hack" or find a third-party utility to do. With Windows Powershell a lot of those tasks can now be brought back "in house" without the need for hacks and kludges.
The nice thing about this book is that it not only talks about Powershell, it also walks you through real-life examples. It's written in many ways like an introductory programming language book would be -- but at the same time the author remembers that most readers will be IT System Admins and not programmers, so he doesn't bury the reader in programming talk to the point they are lost.
If you work in IT and deal with Windows servers you owe it to yourself to check out Windows Powershell and this book. You will find that under the hood of that Windows box is a supercharged '78 Trans-Am just waiting for you to put the pedal to the metal and experience the power!
Pro Windows PowerShell OverviewOur goal is to show how PowerShell can help script most of those tasks and reduce their burden. The book contains examples on automating typical system administration tasks: configuration, monitoring, network queries, text manipulation, and file operations. The ideas presented will be beneficial to power users needing a better shell and an automation environment, system and network administrators looking to streamline their daily activities, and software developers wishing to optimize their build and deploy process. We will jump right in and get results fast. The most important feature of the book is that it will show everything using many, specific examples that provide real value to the user. It will show "the big picture": interoperability with the outside world. Users will see examples dealing with other programs, the OS, and the network. Plus, It will introduce free and open-source tools and extensions that help us get results fast. (We are unique here - none of the competitors does that.) Powershell has proven to be a very popular area and this book has the contents and the technical expertise within to be a success.
